Last Updated 14 March 2012, 21:20 IST

With the railway minister proposing 75 new Express trains and 21 passengers trains in the railway budget, Delhi will also get five Express trains. The frequency of few others has been increased as well.

The new Express trains connecting the Capital with other parts of the country are Sarai Rohilla-Udhampur AC Express, Bandra-Sarai Rohilla Express, Anand Vihar-Haldia Express, Jabalpur-Hazrat Nizamuddin and Ajmer-Haridwar Express (via Delhi).

The frequency of six trains operating from Delhi has been increased.

The number of ‘running days’ for Chhindwara-Sarai Rohilla Express has been increased from four to seven days, from three to seven days for Sarai Rohilla-Bikaner Express, from one to two days for New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani Express and Nizamuddin Kaniyakumari Express.

High-speed corridor

The railway minister has proposed a feasibility study for constructing a Delhi-Jodhpur high-speed corridor.

It will be the seventh such corridor planned by the railways. Pre-feasibility studies on six such corridors in other parts of the country have already been done.

Once operational, trains can run at a maximum speed of 300 km per hour on these rail lines.
