Delhi Police on Tuesday increased their presence on social media by opening three Twitter accounts for Delhiites.

Delhi Police already have a good presence on Facebook with pages of Himmat by Delhi Police, Delhi Police for North East Folks, Delhi Traffic Police, Special Police Unit for Women & Children, Humans of Delhi Police and Special Branch Delhi Police.

However, this is the first time they are opening their accounts on Twitter.

One account is of Delhi Police: @DelhiPolice. The other two are of the Commissioner of Police Bhim Sain Bassi: @BhimBassi and @CPDelhi.

Delhiites are encouraged to follow these three accounts to get latest updates on police activities, safety tips and critical information during times of crisis in the capital.

“All three accounts will enable a two-way interaction between the people and Delhi Police,” said a police officer.

The Twitter account @DelhiPolice will work as Delhi Police control room account.

It will be a one-stop shop for people to report issues and for Delhi Police to update them on law and order situations.

It will supplement Delhi Police control room in sourcing and giving out critical information.
Bassi’s personal account @BhimBassi will be a place for free discussion where people can talk to the police commissioner directly.

“The CP Delhi @CPDelhi account will keep updates about the ongoing affairs at the commissioner’s office,” said a police officer.
