Four persons have been arrested for running a racket to cheat unemployed youths under the pretext of providing employment in Indian Railways, police said on Saturday.

Yashpal Sharma, 39, Manoj Gupta, 33, Namo Naryan Singh, 40, and Surender Pratap Pandey, 59, duped hundreds of youths in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir to the tune of close to Rs 2 crore.

“A computer, a printer, a scanner and a memory card have been seized from them, on which they used to print fake admit cards and joining letters pertaining to Indian Railways,” said Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police (crime and railways).

The action was taken after a complainant on August 20 by Rajesh Kumar, who hails from Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. He reported that he had been duped by Yashpal and his accomplices on the pretext of recruitment in railways.

Then Yashpal and Namo were apprehended in Rohini sector 28. “At their instances, Manoj and Surender were also apprehended,” Jain added.
