<p>Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday sought to puncture the high-voltage Lok Sabha election campaign launched by BJP’, claiming that Narendra Modi “balloon would explode”, particularly in Uttar Pradesh.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The Congress vice president, who dominated the proceedings of the manifesto release function, ridiculed the BJP saying the opposition party had the ability to carry out campaigns like the ‘India Shining’ blitzkrieg of 2004.<br /><br />“Just like the India Shining campaign, this balloon would also explode. This balloon is going to burst, particularly in Uttar Pradesh,” Rahul said at the function with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior leaders Janardan Dwivedi, A K Antony and Ajay Maken by his side.<br /><br />In a brief question and answer session, Congress President Sonia Gandhi defended fielding former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, accused of doling out favours in the Adarsh society scam, from Nanded in the Lok Sabha elections.<br /><br />“The decision on Ashok Chavan was taken by the Central Election Committee. Chavan has not been barred from contesting elections by any law,” she said. The Gandhis and the Prime Minister attacked Modi contending that the BJP ideology was damaging for the country and needed to be defeated.<br /><br />Singh cautioned that Modi's ideology was against the idea of India and the Congress would fight determinedly to ensure its defeat.<br /><br />Rahul also said he had nothing against Modi as an individual but was opposed to his ideolog .</p>
