Sibal meets DUCKU members

Kapil Sibal, human resource development minister has assured DU non-teaching union members to set up a joint committee of members from the ministry, University Grants Commission and the university to consider their demands and submit a report to the ministry in 15 days.

The members met the minister on Thursday and put forth their problems. Delhi University College and University Karamchari Union (DUCKU) is protesting since August 7 demanding to revoke the decision to dissolve the pay grades of non-teaching employees who joined till 1998.

Grant to Jamia

The Centre for North East Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, has received a grant of Rs 14 crore from the University Grants Commission for constructing a permanent building to house the centre, funding staff appointments and recurring expenses, said an official on Thursday.
