BENGALURU, dhns: The high court has directed the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to allow a student to register herself under the linguistic minority category for the PGET 2018 counselling.

A division bench of Justices B S Patil and Sunil Dutt Yadav was hearing a petition filed by Samira Narayan who has challenged the rejection of her application to be registered under the Telugu linguistic minority category for the exam. In its order, the court stated that the student has been living in Karnataka and has studied in Karnataka from the start until the postgraduate exams which constitute a period of 19 years. She satisfies the requirement of being a candidate of Karnataka
origin.

She can't be deprived of the benefit on the grounds that her father doesn't have the domicile of Karnataka.
