Woman found dead in LNJP Hospital campus

Suspicion: Murder after rape not ruled out

A highly decomposed naked body of a young woman was found near resident doctors’ hostel at Lok Nayak Hospital in central Delhi on Wednesday. Police suspect she was raped and murdered.

The incident came to light around 2 pm when a security guard spotted the body lying in a bush near the hostel in the hospital campus. He raised an alarm and informed police about the incident.

A police team and forensic experts rushed to the spot. The area was cordoned off and the spot was closely examined by them. The body has been kept at the hospital’s mortuary for identification.

“The body of the woman, who is said to be aged between 25 to 30, was highly decomposed and emanating foul smell. It was lying naked amid bushes in the hospital campus.

They body bore several injury marks. It is possible that she was killed after she was raped. We are waiting for the post-mortem reports,” said Devesh Srivastava, additional commissioner of police, (central).

Police also questioned doctors who live in the hostel, but failed to establish her identity.
