BCC contractor attempts suicide

Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) sanitary contractor Yallappa Gollar, a resident of Bharat Nagar in Khasbag, attempted suicide because he was facing allegations of creating fake bank accounts to siphon wages of labourers. He was admitted to the district hospital for treatment.

Allegations against the contractor and the officials of the civic body were made on Monday, by labourers who submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
