Urging the government to declare Kushalnagar as Kaveri taluk, Karnataka Kavalu Pade district unit will take out a bike rally in Kushalnagar on February 15.

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Karnataka Kavalu Pade district unit president M Krishna said that the committee has been fighting from the last 25 years towards the formation of the new taluk. But the governments have been showing a negligent attitude.

He further said that the bike rally will be carried out from Kushalnagar to Madikeri. Later, a protest meeting will be conducted in front of the
DC’s office and a memorandum will be submitted to the government, through the district administration.

“Kushalnagar has the eligibility to be declared as a taluk centre. The hobli has sub-registrar’s office, court, engineering college, Sainik school and the offices of agriculture, horticulture and sub treasury,” he added.

During his visit to Kushalnagar several years ago, H D Kumaraswamy had promised that he will declare Kushalnagar as the taluk centre if he became the chief minister. Siddaramaiah too had given the same assurance. Unfortunately, both failed to fulfil their promise, said Krishna.

Karnataka Kavalu Pade city unit vice president M Mahesh, district convener H S Kumar and Muhammed were present during the press meet.
