WATCH: ‘BJP disturbing peace on Tipu Jayanti pretext'

BJP leaders are disturbing the peace in the society by unnecessarily dragging the name of Prophet Muhammed on the pretext of Tipu Jayanti, Block Congress president V P Shashidhar said.

Addressing reporters here, on Wednesday, he said that the present government was only following the previous (Congress) government's policy. But BJP has been misleading people by tarnishing the government's image. Prophet Muhammed was unnecessarily referred to during a seminar in Ponnampet in the district to hurt the religious sentiments of the people belonging to a particular community.

Protest threatened

Zilla Panchayat member P M Latif said that a complaint had been lodged against the person who had spoken ill about Prophet Muhammed. Protests will be held if complaint is not registered.

Agricultural Produce Market Committee president Ramesh, Congress leaders Adam, Abdul Khader and Jayendra were present.
