Air India on Friday shunted out its head of operations A K Kathpalia, whose flying licence was suspended last month for skipping the mandatory pre- and post-flight alcohol test recently.

He is replaced by A K Govil in a reshuffle announced by the national carrier.

Kathpalia, also a senior executive pilot at the airline, has been made as the new executive director for special projects, according to an official notification.

Govil was serving as inflight services executive director.

Kathpalia was taken off flying duties by Air India in February while directorate general of civil aviation suspended his flying licence for refusing to undergo mandatory alcohol test.

Air India has replaced its Executive Director (Training) A S Soman with Amitabh Singh.  Soman will be the new executive director for inflight safety in place of Govil.
