Centre collects Rs 96,483 cr as GST in July

The Centre's GST revenue collections in July were higher than June at Rs 96,483 crore but lower than Rs 1 lakh crore collected in April, the government data showed.

In June, the Centre had collected Rs 95,610 crore in GST. Thereafter, the GST collections began to fall. But the Centre has Budgeted Rs 12 lakh GST revenues for 2018-19. This adds up to an average collection of Rs 1 lakh crore per month.

The government data showed 66 lakh assesses have filed GST returns for July, an increase of over June's 64.69 lakh returns.

The 2018-19 budgeted estimate for GST collection is Rs 12 lakh crore.

Out of the total collection, Central GST (CGST) was Rs 15,877 crore, State GST was Rs 22,293 crore. The cess amount collected by the Centre was Rs 8,362 crore. And Rs 49,951 crore was collected as Integrated GST (IGST). IGST is levied on inter-state supply of goods and services, and is divided between states and the Centre.

The Centre also processed pending GST refunds of Rs 54,378 crore during the fortnight from July 16 to 31.

The government had on July 16 launched a special fortnight-long drive to facilitate pending GST refunds during which dedicated refund cells and help desks were provided for exporters to get their refund claims processed in each commissionerate.
