Microsoft to consolidate operation in Bengaluru; to increase headcount

Microsoft India, which established presence in Bengaluru way back in 2011 is consolidating all its offices into one campus on Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Bellandur in June.

The company, which employs around 3,000 employees in Bengaluru, currently operates out of three premises spread all over the city.

It aims to increase its headcount soon as part of its global initiative to expand in the areas of cloud and AI&ML in the country.

The Redmond-headquartered company has three divisions in Bengaluru - Microsoft India Development Center (MSIDC) and Microsoft India Global Technical Support Center (IGTSC) are located at Embassy Golf Link on Inner Ring Road, Microsoft Research (MSR) India on Lavelle Road at Cosmo Lavelle owned by Salarpuria Sattva Group and an office at WeWork on Residency Road.

The new office, located at Prestige Ferns Galaxy campus, is spread over 5.85 lakh sq feet and can accommodate around 6,000 employees.

Microsoft India (R&D) Pvt. Ltd set up its India operations in Hyderabad in 1998 where the Microsoft India operations are headquartered.

Over the past 19+years, it has expanded to become one of Microsoft’s largest R&D centers outside its headquarters in Redmond, US.

Other than Hyderbad and Bengaluru, Microsoft India has opeations in 7 cities such as Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, the NCR (New Delhi and Gurgaon) and Pune. Microsoft India has a total employee strength of more than 7,000.

In reply to a DH query, Microsoft India official said the company will be moving into a new office facility in Bangalore by June-end.

“At Microsoft, we ensure that the workspace is not only equipped with the latest and the very best technology, but it is also equally comfortable and relaxed,” the company stated.

MSIDC was established after Yahoo! Inc and Microsoft Corporation announced a multi-year global research alliance in 2009.
