Shotang, an online retail distribution platform in the mobile handsets and accessories space, has announced that 80% of the sellers on its platform are now GST compliant.

The startup has enabled 15,000 retailers on its platform to become GST ready. Shotang has also started a helpline and has already addressed over 3,500 GST specific queries from retailers. These queries range from the benefits of GST to more complex topics such as compliance, migration, filing returns, new registrations and TCS, among others, a release said. Shotang Co-Founder and CEO Anish Basu Roy said, “The GST migration is set to impact the $600 billion offline retail ecosystem, comprising brands, distributors, wholesalers and millions of retailers.”

Shotang was founded by Anish Basu Roy and Anterpreet Singh in 2015, and has raised $5 million in Series A funding from Exfinity Venture Partners and Unitus Impact Livelihoods Fund. While the company is currently focused on organising the retail distribution channel in the mobile handsets and accessories space, it plans to enter into four additional categories by next year.
