State notifies land for Mittal plant in Bellary

According to Industry & Commerce Department Principal Secretary V P Baligar the government has approved the land acquisition at Kudathini in Bellary district and preliminary notification will be issued in the State gazette.

ArcelorMittal plans to set up a Rs 30,000-crore steel plant with 6 mtpa capacity and also a 750mw captive power generation unit, he said.

Further, he said, Wipro has applied for 50 acres of land near Bangalore international airport for setting up an IT park adding the State high-level committee will consider it soon. When allotted, the proposed park will be the third location of the IT bellwether in India’s tech hub. The company’s main software development centre is located in the Electronics City on Hosur road, about 35 km from Bangalore and another on Sarjapur road in the southern suburb, which is its corporate headquarters.

Hero Honda plant

In a related development, a technical team of Hero Honda Motors Ltd has inspected three sites in Hubli-Dharwad industrial belt in north Karnataka to set up a two-wheeler plant at an estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crore.
“We have shown two sites near Hubli and another near Dharwad adjacent to Tata Motors bus plant. The company is looking for about 100 acre to set up the two-wheeler plant and another 200 acres for ancillary units and a township,” Baligar added.
