During the day, it climbed 5.64 per cent to touch an intra-day high of Rs 164.80.<br /><br />The decks were cleared today for launching 3G mobile and broadband services in the country. The operators are authorised to use the spectrum for a period of 20 years from today, according to the amended licence conditions.<br /><br />Bharti Airtel, too, zoomed 3.10 per cent to close at Rs 337.30. The scrip shot-up by 3.77 per cent to hit a month-high of Rs 339.50 during intra-day trade. Besides RCom and Airtel, other telecom stocks also ended the day on a positive note, including Idea Cellular (up 0.91 per cent), MTNL (up 2.54 per cent) and Tata Communications (up 4.90 per cent).<br /><br />Meanwhile, the broader market Sensex also ended higher by 234.75 points, or 1.31 per cent, at 18,205.87 today. Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, RCom, Tatas, Idea Cellular, Aircel and S Tel were the operators who bagged 3G spectrum under the auction in May that fetched the government over Rs 51,000 crore. In addition, the government garnered about Rs 16,000 crore from telecom PSUs BSNL and MTNL.</p>
