<p>Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp on Tuesday announced the launch of a group calling feature, for both voice and video options, on iOS and Android devices.</p>.<p>The company which launched voice call three years back has a user base of 1.5 billion monthly users and claims over two billion minutes of calls via its service each day.</p>.<p>The company ensures the voice and video calls are end-to-end encrypted, which ensures security for all chats. The calls made will be logged in the call history tab, next to the chats.</p>.<p>WhatsApp piloted the project in October last year in beta version for select users. Facebook announced this feature for WhatsApp at its F8 developer conference in May.</p>.<p>In a release the company said, over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp.</p>.<p>"In fact, our users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day. We're excited to announce that group calls for voice and video are coming to WhatsApp starting today," states the company.</p>.<p>"You can make a group call with up to four people total - anytime and anywhere. Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new 'add participant' button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call," the company said.</p>.<p>WhatsApp is expecting the move will help the company take on Skype that has supported the same functionality for some time.</p>
