Chaitra Kundapur, who was remanded in judicial custody for assaulting Sullia taluk Hindu Jagarana Vedike Secretary Guruprasad Panja, was admitted to Wenlock Hospital on Friday.

Sullia JMFC court had remanded Chaitra and her associates in judicial custody until November 3. She was lodged in the district jail.

“As she suffered from severe fever she was admitted to Wenlock Hospital,’’ sources in the district jail said.

In a video posted on facebook, Chaitra is seen clarifying on the incident that took place in Kukke Subrahmanya.

She claimed that she had pushed Guruprasad for self-protection.

“Guruprasad Panja and Ashith Kallaje had posted derogatory comments on Facebook. I ignored it and kept silent. But Panja and his associates waylaid my car when I was on way to Samputa Narasimhaswamy Mutt. When I alighted from the car, Panja and his associates assaulted me. Thus, I had to push him,” she said.
