1,000 special buses to ply in festival season

To clear the rush ahead of the Gowri-Ganesha festival and to help people reach their hometowns for the festival, 1,000 extra buses will ply between August 27 and 28.

The special buses will be operated from Bangalore Kempegowda Bus Station to Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shimoga, Hassan, Mangalore, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubli, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bijapur, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Gulbarga, Bellary, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupati and other places.

Special buses from Mysore Road Satellite bus station will be exclusively operated towards Mysore, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar and Madikeri. All premier special buses will be operated from Shanthinagar BMTC Bus Stand to Madurai, Kumbakonam, Trichy, Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and other places in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

More special buses will be operated from Vijayanagar, J P Nagar, Jayanagar 4th and 9th block, Jalahalli Cross, Navarang (Rajajinagar), Malleswaram 18th Cross and Kengeri Satellite Town to Shimoga, Davangere, Tirupati, Mangalore, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu, Kukke Subramanya, Dharmasthala and other places based on the traffic potential. 

Special buses for passengers with prior reservation will be operated from Mysore Road Satellite bus station towards the north-western part of the State (Hubli, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bijapur, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, etc.) and towards north-east (Gulbarga, Bellary, Raichur, Hospet, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, etc) of Karnataka.

 Buses with no reservation will be operated from Kempegowda Bus Station to these regions. 

 Advance reservation of tickets for the special and scheduled buses of KSRTC can be booked through 173 counters in Bangalore, 14 counters in Mysore and 54 counters in Mangalore and other 230 computerised reservation counters of KSRTC located at other places in Karnataka. 

Discount

A discount of 5 percent on the fare will be extended, if four or more passengers book a single ticket and a discount of 10 per cent is offered on the return journey ticket if onward and return journey tickets are booked together. Tickets can also be booked in the KSRTC counters in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Pondichery, Maharashtra and Goa.

In addition, special buses will be operated from all taluk bus stands in the jurisdiction of KSRTC based on the traffic needs.

Special trains

Similarly, the South Western Railways is going to run three special trains including 02687/88 Yeshwantpur-Belgaum-Yeshwantpur on Aug 28 and 31 respectively, 06577/8 Yeshwantpur-Vasco Da Gama-Yeshwantpur Special on August 26 and September 9 and 07327/28 Belgaum-Hubli-Belgaum Special on August 29 and August 31.
