
The BBMP along with Impact India Consortium has identified 1,255 homeless people in BBMP south zone.
A survey to identify urban shelterless people is being carried out across all BBMP zones. According to the plan, it takes three days to complete the survey in each zone. Of the eight zones, the survey has been done in West and South. A total of 1,526 people are without a roof in the West zone, the survey found.
Combining the two zones, the officials have identified a total of 2,781 shelterless people. The survey in the East zone was flagged off on Wednesday night. The officials are expecting to cover Shivajinagar, Russel Market, Cantonment, Queen’s Road, Ulsoor, Murphy Town, Neelasandra, Thanisandra, Tannery Road, Nagawara, Kamaraj Road etc.
T D Sampath, convenor, Impact India Consortium, said: “We are expecting to identify 1,000 homeless people in Shivajinagar alone.” The BBMP is planning new shelter homes.
