2 arrested for fake auto permits

The Koramangala police have arrested two people for illegally registering auto-rickshaws by forging seal and signatures of Regional Transport Office staff.

The suspects are Iliyas Sardar Pasha (31), a resident of Chamarajpet and native of Koral, and K Anand (28), a resident of Shiva Reddy Layout in Electronics City.

Pasha was working as an agent in Koramangala RTO and Anand ran a photocopy shop in the same area. The two decided to make illegal permits for auto-rickshaws for money. They charged Rs 40,000 per vehicle, said the police.

For the past four months, they posed as RTO staff and targeted applicants coming there for permits. They managed to sell six fake permits so far.

The duo has been remanded in judicial custody.
