As many as 32 trees were transplanted on Bannerghatta Road last Friday to make way for the metro line.

A senior BBMP forest official said that the transplantation work was done by the contractors of the Bangalore Metropolitan Rail Corporation Limited. Some of the species that were transplanted include the Peepal tree, Mahagony and also Peltofarm, the official said. “This is part of the transplantation process to make way for the construction of the RV Road and Bommasandra metro line.” The trees are now at the Sri Satya Ganapathi Temple on the same road. “The temple authorities will look after these trees from now on,” said the official.

The trees were moved from the median to the playground at the temple premises. Area corporator B M Shobha overlooked the work, the official added. The official also said that some of the trees that were transplanted from Bannerghatta Road to the Indian Institute of Management campus earlier is doing well.
