App to navigate to the polling station

On this voting day, you can use a map to reach your polling station.

The mobile application—’Polling Station Locator’, was launched by the BBMP and the Election Commission— to navigate you to the polling station using your Voter ID number.

“The application is developed to increase voter turnout. It will direct the voters to their closest polling booth with the help of Google map,” said a BBMP official.

“The application has the details of all the polling stations across the 28 constituencies of the city. We have added more than thousand new polling stations in the city since the last elections, hence people may get confused with their booths. The app will help them to find their polling station,” he added. The app is one among several election related apps, developed by the BBMP’s IT department. All the apps are available on the Google Play store.

The BBMP is also developing an application to track and alert the election flying squads. A Senior official from BBMP told DH, “the BBMP will launch the app to track the poll duty and static surveillance teams.”
