BBMP asks HC for time to file report on city roads

Last Updated 07 June 2018, 20:18 IST

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Thursday appealed to the High Court of Karnataka for more time to submit suggestions and file a status report on improving city roads.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing a public interest litigation petition filed by Vijayan Menon and three others who have brought the court's attention to potholed roads in Bengaluru. They pointed out that seven people have died from pothole-related accidents in the city between January 2015 and January 2016.

The bench asked the BBMP, the state government and the petitioners for suggestions on improving the condition of roads and effectively addressing the issue of potholes. The matter will be heard again on June 20.
