The High Court of Karnataka has directed the BBMP to make Bommanahalli pothole-free by December 20.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing a petition concerning potholes in the city. The court also asked the BBMP to submit the measurement books certified and signed by the BBMP’s Bommanahalli zone chief engineer.

The BBMP further told the court that Mahadevapura has been made pothole-free as directed by the court, and the roads in the area are motorable at the moment. The BBMP is working to ensure that Bengaluru will have a merry Christmas, the civic body told the court.

However, the court pulled up the BBMP for submitting measurement books without evaluation or signature by the concerned chief engineers, as directed by the court in the last hearing. The BBMP stated that it will submit the same accordingly.

With regard to the leakages mentioned by the BBMP in the last hearing, the BWSSB counsel said that in some areas the pipelines are very old and are vulnerable to leakages due to heavy traffic. The counsel also informed that they are on call to attend to the leakages as soon as they are intimated; all leakages indicated by the BBMP has already been attended to.

He further added that 99% of uneven manhole covers on the roads are restored. The court, meanwhile, asked the BWSSB to file a complete affidavit with regard to the status, further steps, and adjourned the case until December 20.
