The BBMP has partnered with Microsoft and technology solutions company Tech Avant-Garde to launch the children's TV channel DD Roshni.

Launched on the occasion of Children's Day on Wednesday, the channel is aimed at BBMP government schoolchildren. The programmes will focus on English language grammar lessons from the school syllabus.

Tech giant Microsoft has already inked the deal for the channel, with public service broadcaster DD Chandana.

"DD Roshni TV channel will be used initially for teaching English in the BBMP schools from Class 1 to 1st PU," a press release from the civic body said.

"This (initiative) is in line with the vision of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and the mission of Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara for making BBMP institutions future-ready," it added.
