Third-semester students of BCom and BSc Bengaluru City University (BCU) who appeared for the English examination on Thursday were shocked to find an irrelevant question paper.

Minutes after the question paper was distributed, students pointed to the examination supervisors that the paper was not meant for them. The supervisors contacted the subject teachers and confirmed that the paper was irrelevant.

Sources from BCU affiliate colleges said it was 1.15 hours late by the time they resumed the examination.

“We concluded the exams around 1.45 pm. The examination scheduled for 9.30 am began only at 10.45 am. We had to wait for the university to resend the correct question paper and take the printouts,” said a senior professor in charge of the exams at a BCU-affiliated college.

“It’s not just about the wrong question paper, but the mental state of the students seated at the exam hall. Getting a wrong question paper and waiting for hours to get the correct one was traumatic for them,” said another senior professor in charge of the exams.

Speaking to DH, BCU’s Registrar for Evaluation Prof Ramesh B said that it was an error during the printing of the question papers. “The codes got exchanged. We have sent the correct question papers to the principal’s email addresses to get the printout,” he added.
