Hours after B S Yeddyurappa took oath as chief minister, the state government transferred superintendent of police (SP) of Ramanagaram district B Ramesh and withdrew the security provided to Eagleton Resort near Bidadi, where the Congress MLAs are staying.

One platoon of District Armed Reserve, three police sub-inspectors, one assistant sub-inspector, 20 head constables and constables were guarding the Eagleton Resort. But soon after the government transferred the SP, the entire security was withdrawn.

IPS officer K Annamalai, who was SP of Chikkamagaluru district, has been transferred as Ramanagaram SP.

Sources in the police department said that the security was withdrawn following directions from the chief minister’s office. Currently, the Congress workers and resort’s private security guards are guarding the resorts.

The Congress has confined its MLAs in the resort fearing poaching by the BJP, which has to prove its majority to save its government.

The responsibility of keeping the MLAs safe has been entrusted to Congress leader D K Shivakumar.

Interestingly, Shivakumar represents the Kanakapura Assembly constituency in Ramanagaram district. JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, who is the chief ministerial candidate of Congress-JD(S) combine, also represents Ramanagaram Assembly constituency.
