Bangalore University students will have more hands-on learning of their subjects with the varsity inking a deal with Vodafone India Foundation to set up an experiential learning centre.

The Centre, to be established by the Vodafone Foundation as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will act as a “learning lab”, to help students in their curriculum, projects and research, besides nurturing innovation.

The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 4000 University Visveswaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) students and 2000 postgraduate students of Bangalore University.

BU and Vodafone Foundation signed the MoU on Wednesday on the Jnanabharathi Campus. The varsity’s Vice Chancellor Prof Venugopal K R and the Head of Vodafone Idea CSR Dr Nilay Ranjan inked the deal.

The MoU is expected to empower BU students with technical skills and improve their access to employment opportunities.

The two organizations will upgrade the curriculum to blend experiential learning with classroom teaching to ensure that students pursuing engineering and other subjects gain a real-world understanding of the concepts that could be applied at the workplace, the university said.

Students will also have access to the foundation’s flagship education programme -“Learning with Vodafone”- which addresses some of the key challenges in the education sector.

The initiative would improve the educational experience of the students, while also connecting the most
deserving of them with available scholarships and reducing the gap between
professional education and jobs.
