Incensed that the man standing at the billing counter was not moving away, four people stabbed the 35-year-old to death outside a bar-cum-restaurant in Kumaraswamy Layout on Friday night.

The victim has been identified as Chandra, a cab driver who lives in Banashankari. The police arrested three of Chandra’s killers — Nadeem (36), Nayaz (32), both natives of Mysuru; and Fayaz (30), a tile mason living in Kumaraswamy Layout.

The police said Chandra and three of his friends were at RK Bar in Kadirenahalli Cross for drinks and dinner at 10.45 pm on Friday.

When Chandra went to the billing counter to pay, the four men, who had just entered the bar, asked him to move away. Chandra refused to budge and asked them to join the queue behind him. He also blocked them from the counter.

The enraged men picked up a quarrel with Chandra and began assaulting him. When Chandra hit back, one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed him. Chandra’s friends rushed out of the bar and saw him lying in a pool of blood. They rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The police identified the killers from the CCTV camera and managed to catch three of them. The Kumaraswamy Layout police registered a case of murder and are probing the incident further.
