Engineering student killed in road accident

An engineering student was killed in an accident involving an SUV and a two-wheeler on the busy flyover near the Jakkur aerodrome on Sunday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Bhoomika, studying at a private engineering college in Chikkaballapur. According to the police, Bhoomika was coming to Bengaluru riding pillion with her friend Manikantha.

“Manikantha had gone to Chikkaballapur in the morning to pick up Bhoomika,and they were coming to Bengaluru for lunch. As they were crossing the Jakkur flyover, their bike rammed into an SUV. Bhoomika fell down from the flyover, where she was run over by a speeding vehicle,” a source said.

Even though locals and onlookers rushed her to a private hospital nearby, Bhoomika succumbed to her injuries. Manikantha’s condition is said to be stable. Beyond shock and grief, Bhoomika’s parents revealed that she had not informed them about her trip to Bengaluru.

As the family expressed suspicion over her death, the police have registered a case, and are probing further.
