Factory owners assault worker over wages

The Rajanakunte police arrested three persons, including the two owners of a granite factory, for abducting and assaulting a labourer, when he demanded his due wages.

The victim, Rizwan Khan (32), managed to escape, and filed a complaint with the police. Kailash, Choudhari, and his brother, Suraj Choudhari, were arrested on charges of attempted murder and criminal intimidation. The trio were produced before the magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Khan in his complaint said he was working at Radhakrishna Tiles and Granites, owned by the accused in Rajanakunte, for over an year. They had not paid Khan Rs 50,000 as labour charges, and had consistently denied his wages.

Unable to bear frequent calls from the victim for payment, the accused called him on Tuesday on the pretext of settling the dues. They locked him inside a shed, and assaulted him with an iron rod. Khan managed to escape, and got admitted at a hospital nearby.
