A father and son, who had come from Dubai on vacation, drowned in a pond at their farmhouse in Yelekyathanahalli village in Nelamangala on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.
Rajanna (55), who works as an engineer in Dubai, had come to India with his family earlier this week.
According to the police, Rajanna and his family along with relatives were at the farmhouse for a reunion. Around 2.30 pm, Rajanna's son Amith (17) got into the pond. But Amith, who did not know swimming, started struggling in the water. Rajanna, who also did not know how to swim, jumped in to rescue his son. But both of them did not surface, the Dobbspet police said. The bodies were later recovered by the fire and emergency services personnel.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death.
