High on drugs, three men fatally stabbed a 19-year-old passerby just because he refused to respond to their call. The shocking murder occurred in Rajendra Nagar near Adugodi, Southeast Bengaluru, on Saturday night. The police have arrested the suspects.

Javed, of LR Nagar, had stepped out of a masjid around 10 pm when the three men — Ajith, Rahul and Ajith Rao — called out to him. The men were smoking marijuana on the roadside. Javed didn't respond and kept walking. The men got enraged, accosted him and abused him for ignoring them.

Javed, who ran a garage in Neelasandra, said he didn't respond because he didn't know them. This further infuriated the gang, which then pounced on him and stabbed him in the abdomen and thighs. As he collapsed, the men got scared and fled the spot. Local residents rushed to Javed's rescue after hearing his screams and took him to hospital, where he died on Sunday morning, a senior police officer said.

The police managed to track down the assailants on the basis of eyewitness' accounts. The suspects, however, told the police that they had committed the murder under the influence of drugs.
