JOIN USThe trial run of Namma Metro from Magadi Road station to Mysore Road station is likely to commence this November, going by the present pace of work.
According to the officials of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the work on laying the track on the stretch will be completed in the next two weeks after which electrification will be taken up. Similarly, the track laying work on Reach 3B between Peenya Extension and Nagasandra will also be completed in the next two months and the trials will begin in October.
Going by the progress of work on East-West corridor, Namma Metro will meet its deadline of March 2015 to run trains between Baiyyappanahalli and Mysore Road stations.
The work is on full swing on the underground stations — Cubbon Park Station (Minsk Square), Vidhana Soudha, Central College and Bangalore City Station. All the civil and tunnelling work on the underground west ramp have been completed and laying of tracks has begun. The excavation for the Cubbon Park station has also been completed. The work on auxiliary building and entry exit structures are in progress.
At the Vidhana Soudha Station, South-East entry structure is completed and 63 per cent of masonry work for various rooms is over. BMRCL Managing Director P S Kharola said that efforts were on to finish the work on underground stations. “The trial run will start on Peenya Extension stretch by October while that between Magadi Road and Mysore Road stretch will commence in November,” he told Deccan Herald.
The civil work on entry-exit structures at Sir M Visvesvaraya Station and Bangalore City Station have been completed.
Namma Metro has received good response to the Expression of Interest (EoI) for setting up retail shops for sports, jewellery, clothing etc at the MG Road Station. Officials said final tenders will be floated soon.
