Minor fires in the air to threaten neighbour

Last Updated 10 August 2018, 20:28 IST

The Subramanyapura police detained a 17-year-old minor for firing three rounds in the air and arrested his uncle Lakshman Kandeakar, a former soldier, for not renewing his revolver's licence.

The police said that on Thursday night, Lakshman, a resident of BDA Layout in Subramanyapura, was drunk and speaking on his mobile phone loudly.

His neighbour Mahesh Kumar asked him to lower his voice since many people were sleeping and he was disturbing them.

Lakshman was offended and picked a quarrel with him. Soon, both families joined in the fight.

Meanwhile, Lakshman’s nephew brought the revolver from home, went to the terrace and fired three rounds in the air, threatening to shoot at the neighbours if they did not keep quiet.

Other neighbours who came out from their houses after hearing the shots, called the police control room.

The police rushed to the spot and arrested the duo.

Lakshman told the police that his nephew initially was not aware of the revolver's presence at home but said that he might have seen it after he saw Lakshman clean it and put it away in the drawer.

And as soon as a fight broke out, he came out with the revolver and fired in the air.

Since Lakshman had not renewed the licence of his revolver for two years, he was booked under the weapons act.
