MLC Raghu Achar gets 'blackmail calls'

Congress MLC G Raghu Achar has filed a police complaint, saying some people want to control him by blackmailing him or else they would make his obscene videos.

Achar, 35, who hails from Chitradurga but lives in Bellandur, Southeast Bengaluru, said three to four people had made several VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) calls to him between December 4 and December 7. The callers want to him to dance to their tune and threatened to morph his videos into pornography and post them on social media and release to television channels if he doesn’t give
in.

Following the MLC’s complaint, the Bellandur police have registered an FIR under section 66(E) (violation of privacy) of the IT Act, 2000, and IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication). They are trying to trace the IP addresses used for making the VoIP calls. DH could not reach Achar for comment as his phones were switched off.
