Motorist killed in accident with speeding cab

A 23-year-old motorist was killed when a speeding cab rammed his bike at Balekundri Circle near Queen’s Road around midnight on Tuesday.

The victim—Nayeem Ahmed, a resident of Gurappanapalya—was on his way home from his furniture shop in Shivajinagar.

The police said that Ahmed was on his Avenger bike near the Balekundri Circle when a speeding, rashly driven Uber cab knocked him down.

Ahmed was not wearing a helmet, the police added.

A few passers-by who witnessed the accident rushed to Ahmed’s help and shifted him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries

The irked public, however, assaulted the cab driver for his reckless driving.

The driver, identified as Baba Jahan (33) suffered injuries due to the public assault. Police admitted Jahan to Bowring Hospital after they seized his cab.

He is a resident of Lingarajapuram and has been booked for causing accidental death due to rash and negligent driving.

The Cubbon Park traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.
