‘No child locks in taxis by January 16’

The commissioner of transport and road safety has set the January 16 deadline for removing the child lock system from motor cabs (taxis) across Karnataka. Defaulters will face stringent action.

Transport officials are carrying out a special drive, educating taxi drivers for disabling the child lock system. They checked more than 1,000 cabs and disabled the child lock system.

The drive is being carried out following a high court order for disabling the child lock to ensure the safety of women cab passengers.
