The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) imposed a penalty of Rs 25 lakh on a polythene manufacturing unit, which was supplying plastic bags below 40 micron thickness.
Acting on a tip-off, the health officers of BBMP Dasarahalli Zone raided Malang Polymers at Peenya Industrial Area and seized 100 tonnes of plastic bags and imposed the penalty. They also sealed the factory and issued a notice. The health officials have asked the Bescom to disconnect power supply to the factory for violating the rules.
