The city police have arrested six men in connection with the murder of a rowdy in Central Bengaluru's Vasanthnagar on May 18.

Initially, the police suspected personal rivalry behind the murder of Rakesh alias Jackie, who was killed by a gang of eight men.

The arrested are Prakash, the prime suspect, Dinesh, Ananth, Tony, Aneesh, Syed and Madani, residents of Vasanthnagar, Yeshwantpur, Jalahalli, Hesaraghatta, Lottegollahalli and Vidyaranyapura, respectively. Two more men who were part of the gang have been identified as Manju and Kiran, but are yet to be arrested, the police said.

According to the police, Rakesh was a history-sheeter. Both Rakesh and Prakash were friends for many years. Trouble started brewing when Rakesh began an affair with Prakash’s wife.

When Prakash came to know of this, he started to ill-treat her, the police said.
