Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said the state government will consider slashing sales tax on petrol and diesel. In a statement, Siddaramaiah said it was primarily the responsibility of the Centre to reduce the prices of fuel.
The price of crude oil which stood at $ 130 per barrel a few years back is now available at $ 42 per barrel, he pointed out. Yet the state government will consider reducing sales tax on petrol and diesel as sought by the Centre, he said.
