The city witnessed two separate suicides on Saturday. In one of them, Mary (40) hung herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in KR Puram on Saturday night.
Mary had been living alone for a couple of years and was depressed after her husband and daughter had died. Her sister Amrutha called on Saturday evening but got no response. She then visited Mary's home around 4.30 pm. When Mary did not respond to her knocks, she along with the neighbours broke open the door and found the body.
In another suicide, a 45-year-old truck driver committed suicide due to financial troubles. Anthony Raj is survived by his wife and three children. He hung himself when alone at home. His wife found him hanging when she returned at 1.30 pm on Saturday.
The KR Puram police have registered both suicides as unnatural deaths.
