“We will go by the legal opinion of the Advocate General,” he added.

He also dismissed the charges that his own partymen had filed the review petition in the Supreme Court in a bid to postpone the polls.

Advocate General Ashok Harnahalli said it is impossible to hold the elections to the BBMP as per the calender of events which has been issued by the State Election Commission as the reservation list has to be revised.

“For revising the reservation, fresh guidelines have to be framed. This is a time consuming process. We will study the Supreme Court order and then decide on the next course of action.”

Poll code

When mediapersons asked whether the State government will issue revised guidelines, the Advocate General said, “We cannot issue now because the model code of conduct is in place. Unless the State Election Commission withdraws the code, the government cannot make any announcement.”

SEC Commissioner Chikmath said it was left to the government to take decision regarding the reservations.

“I conduct the elections. I do not have any reservation list before me. Once I read the SC order, then there will be clarity.”
