A 46-year-old woman was killed on the spot when her two-wheeler was knocked down by a tipper truck on Mysuru Road.
Suma K was a chartered accountant residing in Cottonpet and was working for an auditor's firm in Chandra Layout, the police said.
At 9.35 am, as Suma was heading to office on her Honda Activa on Mysuru Road, a rashly driven tipper truck knocked her scooter. Suma fell to her right and came directly under the truck's rear wheel.
Though she wore a helmet, she sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
The traffic was held up for an hour since the truck blocked more than half of the road. On getting the information, the police rushed to the spot, called for an ambulance and took Suma to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Fearing public wrath, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The Chickpet traffic police registered a case of accidental death caused due to negligence and have seized the vehicle.
Suma is survived by her husband Rajkumar and two daughters, Varsha R and Kavya R.
