A 23-year-old employee of a multinational company was smothered to death at her house in Immadihalli in Whitefield on Monday.

The deceased Vijayalakshmi, a native of Delhi, had come to the city a month ago and was working for a private software firm at ITPB as a software engineer. She was staying on the third floor of a multi-storied apartment in Immadihalli.

The police said that Vijayalakshmi had not come out of her house for the past three days. When foul smell started emanating from her house, the owner of the house opened the window and found her dead. He later alerted the police. The police found some injury marks on her body and handed over the body to her family members after the postmortem.

Search for boyfriend: The owner of the house told the police that the woman’s boyfriend had stayed at her house for a couple of days and was now missing. The police are on the lookout for him. The police added that she came in contact with her boyfriend when she was studying in a college in Delhi. He was working as a gym instructor and she was very close to him. When she moved to Bengaluru, he arrived a couple of days later and stayed with her. The police suspect that he might have killed her.
