Unidentified men used diversionary tactics on actor Vinod Raj, in broad daylight, and managed to flee with Rs 1 lakh from the bag inside the car at Nelamangala on Friday.
The men told Raj that his tyre was flat and when the actor got down to check, they fled with the bag.
The police said Raj withdrew cash from the bank on Friday to pay salary to the workers at his farm in Soladevanahalli. He kept the bag in the car and was heading to his farm with his assistant Ramanjaneya in toe. At 1.30 pm, two youngsters informed him that the rear wheel of his car was flat. Both Raj and Ramanjaneya got down from the car to check the rear tyre.
The migrants spoke to him for some time and left the spot. Two hours later, Raj realised the bag was missing. He approached the Nelamangala police station and lodged a complaint. The police are checking CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the suspects. They ruled out the possibility of an insider’s job.
