CMC Cong members protest against BJP member

Condemning an act by a BJP member of Madikeri City Municipal Council, women members of Congress, including CMC president Kaveramma Somanna, staged a protest in front of Madikeri CMC office on Monday.

The protestors took up brooms in their hands to vent their ire against BJP CMC member Unnikrishna who had allegedly abused CMC president Kaveramma Somanna during the widening of Race Course Road recently.

They demanded the arrest of the BJP member for his hooligan like behaviour.

On November 9, the CMC president has been monitoring the work on the widening of Race Course Road which was carried out under Nagarotthana project. BJP member Unnikrishna not only obstructed the work but also abused the CMC president. The BJP should suspend him from the party, demanded protestors.

Kaveramma Somanna said that a video of the BJP member abusing her has gone viral on social media.

Congress district committee vice president Geeta Changappa said that the behaviour of BJP member Unnikrishna is condemnable. If the BJP has respect for women, they should throw him out of the party, she added.

Leaders Swarnalatha Changappa, Parvathi and Julekabi were present among others.
