Cold weather in Madikeri

Madikeri woke up to a chilly morning on Wednesday with the minimum temperature dropping to 11 degree Celsius. Sweaters and jackets have come out of the wardrobes with the fall in the temperature.

The cold weather had disappeared from December 20 to 25 in the district. The intensity of the chill weather has increased in Shirangala and Koodige areas in North Kodagu region.

Majority of the residents have stopped riding two-wheelers following the chilly weather. A few have however been riding while wearing gloves, a cap, sweater and shoes.

The most affected are labourers residing in line houses at coffee estates.

The tourists are enjoying the weather in the district. Campfires in resorts and homestays are a common scene in the district. The sale of liquor has also increased.
