Congress stages protest

District Congress Committee members stage a protest in front of the Congress office in Madikeri on Monday.

The District Congress Committee members staged a protest on Monday against the Hindu Mahasabha leader who recreated Gandhi’s assassination by shooting Gandhi’s effigy. The protest took place in front of the Congress office in Madikeri.

The Congress workers shouted slogans against the Hindu Mahasabha and BJP, and demanded stringent action against those who recreated Gandhi’s assassination, thereby supporting his assassination.

They said that recreating of the act will not be tolerated by the people of the country.

Congress leader Ramesh accused the BJP of supporting such activities. The Centre should take the incident seriously and take legal action against Hindu Mahasabha members, he demanded.

Congress leader Tennira Maina said, “Gandhiji had propagated non-violence to the world. The incident of shooting at Gandhi’s effigy should be condemned.”
